Department of Physics

The department of Physics, Aronai College, Kokrajhar started its functioning with an elective course for the students of higher secondary level in 2013. Currently, the department offers three year B.Sc. program, honours course as well as regular course starting from 2016 under Bodoland University. The department has rich teaching aids and encourages use of latest technologies for highly motivated students looking to pursue a bright career in Physics. Besides these, the department has well-equipped laboratory filled with sophisticated instruments. The intake capacity of B.Sc. honours course is 20 and that of the regular course is 40.

The primary focus of the department is to encourage enrollment of students especially from socio-economical backward section of the country by providing them with the best of infrastructure and through quality teaching. The department aims to build a strong foundation for excellence by nurturing enthusiasm, interests and passion, in the study of Physics. The department of Physics, Aronai College, Kokrajhar has shown a consistent improvement in its academic and in building student’s career around Physics.

The goal of both Physics honours and regular course is to provide the student with a broad understanding of the physical principles of the universe. Courses in Physics reveal the mathematical beauty of the universe at scales ranging from subatomic to cosmological. Studying Physics strengthens quantitative reasoning and problem solving skills that are valuable in areas beyond Physics. The department offers Physics courses that are matched to a range of goals that students may have in studying Physics taking elective courses to broaden one’s scientific literacy, satisfying requirements for a major in the sciences.
